The Designer - Melina Blaxland-Horne

Melina was born in Athens,  Greece however,  grew up in London.  As a child,  she was fascinated with fabric textures,  colours,  design and with the attention to detail that went into objects of art and antiques,  which she found at home in abundance.  Both her parents were passionate antique and art collectors.

Melina's maternal grandmother was a natural creative and became an important source of inspiration for Melina.  She was often encouraged by her grandmother to hand sew dresses for her dolls during play time and using various forms of artistic expression became a way of life.  As a result Melina developed her own ideas and style which she uses imaginatively and creatively in her designs today,  engaging often in her love of sketching and painting which begun in her formative years.

Melina’s passion for travel allows her to visit different cultures, studying the architecture,  stopping off at market places, exploring the art,  design and colours of a place.  Part of her inspiration comes from meeting and talking to the locals.  She loves to be surrounded by nature,  treasures family outings to museums, design exhibitions and stately homes, all of which contribute towards her artistic expression and source of creativity.
